Nursing and Midwifery Council</a> Revalidation</a>
The Nursing and Midwifery Council have finalised the Revalidation process for nurses and midwives to remain on the register. As an integral part of our organisation, we would like to clarify and remind you of your obligation as a registered healthcare professional to ensure that your registration remains active.
What is the NMC Register?
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is a regulating body for all nurses and midwives in the UK. To work in public or private healthcare, all nurses and midwives need to be registered with the NMC.
As a member of the A24Group your active registration is of the utmost importance to us, and we would therefore like to raise awareness of this process and offer our support.
What are the basic requirements for NMC registrations?
Nursing and midwifery staff need to meet a list of basic requirements in order to successfully register with the NMC. These are:
Certification of your qualification – a scanned copy will suffice
Details of your formal training and title of your qualification
The name, address and email address for your education institution – these can be UK or outlying institutions.
Details of your previous name, should your current name differ from that of the name you had when you were awarded your qualification
Details of any prior professional registration – this may be from your home country, if you are not a natural born UK citizen
Once you have followed the process to register with the NMC, which may involve additional checks, such as a competency test, as well as a requirement to submit English language requirements results, should you be applying from outside of the UK. You will be provided with your registration details, and form part of the official register of nurses and midwives within the UK.
You will need to renew your registration every three years, and this process is referred to as revalidation.
What is Revalidation?
Revalidation is the process that allows you to maintain your registration with the NMC.
The purpose of this is to showcase that you are continually practicing and remaining an active member of the healthcare community. This process allows you to reflect that you are developing your skills, adhering to the Code laid out by the NMC, which are the professional standards of practice for nurses, midwives and nursing associated.
Every three years all nurses and midwives will be asked to apply for revalidation using the NMC online system as a means of keeping their registration active. Completing the revalidation process is your responsibility as the registered nurse or midwife, however the A24Group will assist where applicable.

A sample of nurses and midwives will be selected at random to verify the declaration they have made, and they will have to provide evidence according to the above required items.
We are assisting agency staff with appraisals, which can be used as part of your portfolio to submit for Revalidation.
Use the feedback forms provided, which you can take to clients you are working at for the agency, in order to get practice-related feedback. You can then send this back to us and we will load this onto your agency profile for safekeeping.
Ensure all evidence of client feedback is verifiable with either a stamp, letterhead or complimentary slip.
